On Sunday December 13, MAP Lahore organized a picnic for its members to spend a day out with their families at Rana Hunting & Luxury Resort, Head Baloki an hour’s drive from Lahore.

Guests arrived to the beat of our traditional dhol, freely roaming turkeys and dancing peacocks. Lush green lawns, stately trees, bamboo forests, orchards brought freshness to the oxygen starved city dwellers. It was a delight to see the children enjoying the swings, merry go rounds, see-saws, jumping jacks, cricket, badminton, football, Frisbee even mini-golf.  An exciting, hotly contested cricket match was played with teams made up of juniors and seniors. A sumptuous lunch was served that also included our traditional ‘saag’ ‘desi makhan’ and ‘makai ki roti’ the sweet dish of ‘gur waaley chaawal’ was a treat.

A Safari walk and Tonga Ride took us all to see the ostriches and several species of deer, neel-gai etc. Later, the children had a musical chair event and races for three different age groups. Gift hampers were given to all the children.

This family gathering was an event to remember. The participation was simply amazing where quality time was spent with their near and dear ones, away from their hectic everyday routine in the city. MAP’s annual picnic has indeed become a happening event in Lahore’s lively event calendar.
