MAP History

The Marketing Association of Pakistan is a premier body representing marketing practitioners and professionals in the country. Founded in 1967, this association has made significant contribution towards promoting the understanding of the discipline, encouraged new entrants in the field and constantly supported those who either sought or found their career in marketing.

MAP has an office at Karachi as well as chapters at Lahore and Islamabad. Overall membership of the Marketing Association is close to two thousand.

Lahore chapter was established in 1987. Since then it has served as a focal point of activities for the marketing executives in Lahore and around. By virtue of holding very successful marketing congresses in 1996 and 2003, Lahore chapter came of age and clearly demonstrated its ability to take on more serious projects in future.

Throughout the year, the Association keeps its members engaged through series of tea meetings, seminars, training workshops and the well sought after annual dinner.

Looking ahead in future, though ambitious, Lahore Chapter is seriously contemplating to establish an Institute of Sales & Marketing. The need is strongly felt to have an institute of excellence purely dedicated to promoting marketing as a discipline.

A two kanal piece of land has already purchased at Johar Town Lahore by MAP Lahore Office to fulfill this dream.

To promote the study of all branches of knowledge relevant to the profession of marketing.

To promote the growth of a cadre of professional marketing managers in Pakistan.

To provide to management a scientific approach towards marketing.

To provide facilities for the study of and inquiry and research into marketing problems.

To bring together persons interested in marketing by such means as conferences and meetings.

To disseminate knowledge and to keep in touch with its members, the Association publishes a quarterly journal named ‘Marketing Review.

Activities

Seminars
Map is essentially an association of professional marketing executives and organizes seminars, symposia and lectures from time to time with a direct aim of improving and updating marketing techniques. These seminars are designed to provide greater knowledge and latest developments to persons engaged in the marketing field and allied disciplines.

Industry Visits
For the benefit and interest of its members, MAP arranges periodic Industry Visits.

Research Publications
Map aims to contribute academically to the subject of marketing by arranging such activities, which are published and used, by persons and organizations concerned with an interest in sales and marketing.

Articles
Map aims to assist in producing, publishing and distributing articles, books, periodicals and journals for disseminating knowledge and information on sales and marketing.

Liaison
Map confers, consults and maintains contact with persons, associations, societies and institutions having similar objectives as those of the association. On the issues of sales and marketing it represents internationally.

Professional Meetings
Map brings together persons interested and connected with marketing activities by arranging professional meeting each month.

News MAP-a biannual news letter
News MAP is Marketing Association of Pakistan's biannual newsletter which is mailed to all members of the Association. It carries marketing news, reviews, articles and coverage of the Association's activities. Subscription is free to all members of MAP and is activated at the time of joining.

Marketing Review-a quarterly
Marketing Review is a quarterly publication of MAP which covers a wide range of topics related to Marketing.
